Introduction

Marble head of Livia Drusilla. Copy from the 4th century after an after an original from 27-23 BCE.

To my fellow audience, prepare to learn about the fascinating life of Livia Drusilla, the first empress of Ancient Rome!

My name is Anthony Nero, and I am an ancient biographer who specializes in Roman History. I am pleased to inform you that my recent works have been devoted to Livia Drusilla, whom I find quite interesting, yet very cunning. Livia is most well known for being the wife of the first emperor of Rome, Caesar Augustus. Together, they embodied what the ideal family dynamic was for all other families of Ancient Rome. Livia’s irresistible beauty and obedience allowed her to obtain many things that she desired.

Various people throughout the world, including other biographers like myself, have held more of a negative portrayal towards Livia’s character as we remain questionable to why she did some of the things she did. As I dive deeper into the life of Livia Drusilla throughout the biography, I will be describing some of the major events of her life, along with how she came about dealing with them in ill-mannered intentions.
