Introduction

Greetings reader!

It is with great pride that I present you with a story of unparalleled leadership and achievement– the life of Philip II of Macedonia. My name is Leon of Pella, Macedonia's best scholar, and I am honored to recount the life of Philip II, who many only know to be the father of Alexander the Great. Although this is true, Philip’s life and time as ruler have painted him to be much more than just that. Philip, a man of unmatched foresight, united Greece under his rule, and with his brilliant military reforms and diplomatic skills, he forever changed the course of history. Philip’s expertise is responsible for setting up Macedonia for their strong conquest of Persia under Alexander’s rule.

In the following account, I invite you to marvel at the achievements of this extraordinary king, whose wisdom and strength paved the way for the greatness that followed. All of the information you need on Philip’s fascinating life can be found in the following pages.
